Porsche won East African Classic Rally in 2011
World-famous classic Porsche organisation Tuthill Porsche will be represented at the Silverstone Classic media launch on Wednesday May 8 as its Safari Rally winning Porsche 911 will be displayed to over 200 media guests.
Based in rural Oxfordshire, Tuthill Porsche is the UK’s leading preparation company for historic Porsches. Björn Waldegård, the inaugural 1979 World Rally Champion, won the East African Classic Rally with a Tuthill-prepared 911 in 2011 and the same car will be a star attraction at Silverstone later this week.
The event will mark the official launch to this year’s Silverstone Classic: the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival which will run from 26-28 July and will feature a special Porsche 911 parade to celebrate 50 years of the German sports car.
Tuthill Porsche director, Richard Tuthill, commented: "Our team has been working flat out preparing for the East African Rally Classic in November and we felt that the Silverstone Classic media launch was a perfect opportunity to showcase our winning Safari car ahead of this year’s event.
"We are very excited to have Waldegård driving one of our cars again this year along with the 1984 World Champion, Stig Blomqvist. With Silverstone only 15 miles from our headquarters, we were delighted to join the plethora of classic cars that is expected to be on show at Wednesday’s media launch," he added.
