3-litre twin-cam Super Sports 1926
Following the success of last year’s £2.6 million Bonhams sale at the National Motor Museum during the Beaulieu Autojumble, the Motoring team is preparing to return to
Hampshire on Saturday September 8 with another eclectic line-up that features lots from three different single-owner collections.
Leading motor car consignments for the auction are two Sunbeams – a 1926 3-litre twin-cam Super Sports (estimate £130,000-£160,000) and a 1912 Coupe de l’Auto replica (£90,000-£120,000).
The sale will also feature vehicles from two different private collections.
The Baden Collection of 21 cars, all of which will be offered at no reserve, includes a 1916 Rauch & Lang Model BX6 Electric Brougham estimated at £30,000 to £35,000, a 1934 Alvis SB Firefly Tourer offered for £25,000 to £30,000, and a 1913 De Dion Bouton Type DX Touring that is expected to realise between £18,000 and £22,000.
The Cottesmore Collection features a 1937 Alvis 4.3 Drophead Coupe expected to realise between £60,000 and £80,000, a 1924 Aster 18/50 Coupe estimated at £18,000 to £24,000, and a 1939 Lagonda LG6 Drophead Coupe in at £80,000 to £120,000.
Other motor car highlights include a 1953 Alfa Romeo 1900 Sprint Series 1 that is estimated to realise between £60,000 and £80,000.
Among motorcycles on offer at the sale is a 1963 BSA 646cc Rocket Gold Star that is estimated to realise between £14,000 and £18,000, a 1927 BSA 5½hp Sloper that is estimated at £4,500 to £5,000, and a 1999 BSA Regal Gold Star SR500 that has completed only 350 miles from new and could achieve between £3,500 and £5,000.
The Automobilia section will feature more than 200 lots, including the collection of the late Ron Hickman, former stylist at Ford in Dagenham and later Director of Lotus Engineering in the 1960s, responsible for the original Lotus Elan models and designer of the Black & Decker Workmate. The collection includes his motoring library and a selection of original cutaway technical illustrations for The Autocar and The Motor.
