Models of cars in Skoda Auto car museum
The reconstructed Skoda Auto car museum has once again opened in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic.
Vintage models were on display and there was a preview of the New Skoda Octavia III,
which makes its debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March next year.
The company is keen to build on the success of the Skoda brand, opening the museum in the Czech city where founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement manufactured their first motor car in 1905.
The modern museum based on three floors maps the journey of the duo and how the Skoda brand grew to become a strong wing of the Volkswagen Group in the 1990's. A key feature is the new art gallery, which shows Skoda's engine development over time.
At the heart of Skoda's success is excellence in sports motoring. The 130RS sport coupe won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1977, the Acropolis in 1978 and the European Manufacturers' Championship race in 1981. The Skoda Fabia S2000 was pivotal in the 2011 World Rally Championships title victory.
The recent crop of Skoda cars have been modelled on returning to the traditional values of the company, to a journey which began 117 years ago.
