Toyota Corolla at Dubai International Motor Show
Following its acclaimed regional premiere at the Dubai International Motor Show, the all-new Corolla has been officially launched by Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributors of Toyota in the UAE. Building on 47 years of successful history, the 11th
generation of the bestselling vehicle in the world reflects a more dynamic design aiming to revolutionise consumers’ perceptions about the iconic sedan, said a statement from Al-Futtaim Motors.
In addition to its revolutionary modern design, the new model enjoys a premium interior and advanced safety systems that match the demands of the ever more sophisticated market.
Available with a 1.6L and a newly introduced 2.0L engine, the vehicle benefits from a dramatically improved driving performance that complements its legendary reliability, the statement added.
With its new packaging the Corolla appeals to young achievers aspiring to drive an iconic vehicle, which reflects their style and implies a sense of accomplishment, said a senior official.
“The all-new 2014 Corolla is not an evolution, it’s a revolution,” remarked Jon Williams, the managing director, Al-Futtaim Motors during the press launch event. “Chief engineer Shinichi Yasui has managed to integrate the unique DNA of the world’s best-selling car with a revolutionary design. The result is spectacular,” he noted.
Corolla accounts for 15 per cent of Toyota’s total global sales and 15 per cent of Al-Futtaim Motors’ sales in the UAE, which makes it a key contributor to the strong brand image that Toyota has established around the world and in the UAE.
“With 40 million Corollas sold globally since its launch and the fact that 26 million of these cars are still in use around the world, is a great example of the car’s famed quality, durability and reliability. With its dynamic modern design, the new 2.0L engine and wide range of options, we believe this vehicle will help Al-Futtaim Motors maintain its position as the number one automotive supplier here in the UAE,” stated Williams.
The Corolla’s new design theme gives the vehicle an immediate visual impact through a more sophisticated and innovative look.
The exterior aims to achieve both a strong presence and a distinctive evolution from the current model. The elegance is accentuated by the cleanly sculpted surfaces; pronounced flared wheel arches and newly introduced DRL (Daytime Running Lights).
The extensive range of body colours aims at satisfying the tastes of a wide consumer base with six exterior colours: Super White, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic, Black Mica, Blue Metallic and Dark Blue Mica.
Available in Gray and Ivory, the Corolla’s interior matches the visual impact of the exterior and adds new levels of refinement. Class leading cabin volume, as a result of the wheelbase being extended by 10 cm’s, delivers a more spacious and comfortable experience for all passengers.
A horizontally oriented dash panel design further adds to the interior’s sense of spaciousness and premium, soft touch materials and metal-like accents help convey a sense of quality and modern prestige.
The current Corolla is well-reputed for both stability and ride comfort. Engineering efforts for the new model also focused heavily on enhanced handling, which has been achieved by improving body rigidity and by lowering the overall vehicle height by 5mm to achieve a lower centre of gravity.
The new Corolla is available for sale in all Al-Futtaim Motors, Toyota showrooms across the UAE with two engine variants offering standard automatic transmission.
The 1.6 L model is available in three different packages; the S entry model priced at Dh59,500 (16,197), SE at Dh63,500 and SE+ at Dh68,500.
The 2.0L also comes in three different packages with the entry level SE priced at Dh66,900, SE+ model priced at Dh69,900 and the top of the range Limited model at Dh73,900.
The new model remains committed to delivering great fuel economy in the compact sedan segment and comes with an Eco Mode to help promote environmentally-friendly driving.
