UK Motorexpo 2013 is underway
The UK’s largest free motoring event, Motorexpo, opened at Canary Wharf in London on Monday. Running until Sunday 16 June, this year’s show is expected to generate a record
turnout of 460,000 visitors, who will browse and interact with the huge range of cars on show.
Taking the limelight at this year’s show will be a number of UK motoring event debuts, including Jaguar’s sporty new F-Type two-seat convertible and the all-new Range Rover Sport, billed as Land Rover’s fastest and most agile vehicle to date. Additional show premieres include the Infiniti Q50 premium saloon, BMW i3 electric concept car, SEAT Leon SC, Skoda Superb, Lotus Exige S and Jeep’s new Grand Cherokee.
This year’s Motorexpo will welcome the event’s widest-ever range of exhibiting car brands. These include iconic supercar marques such as Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Maserati and Porsche. They will be joined by prestige carmakers including BMW / MINI, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes and Volvo, and popular cars from Chrysler, Kia, SEAT and many more.
Motorexpo 2013 differs from more traditional motor shows in that it offers unrivalled levels of interactivity. Visitors are encouraged to touch and get inside the exhibited vehicles, many of which can also be driven around the Canary Wharf estate through the show’s ‘DriveMe’ feature. To book a test drive, visitors need only register their interest at the relevant stand on the day. It is the only motoring event in the UK where this is possible on such a large scale.
With no tickets and no queues, Motorexpo’s unique format draws a huge footfall and organisers expect attendee numbers to set a new record and exceed 460,000 this year. In addition to the exhibits and interactive displays of Motorexpo, the 97-acre Canary Wharf estate is home to over 240 shops, bars and restaurants, offering a wealth of facilities for show attendees to enjoy.
For the second year running, London Motorexpo will proudly host and co-sponsor The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders’ annual International Automotive Summit which will attract around 250 senior delegates from the breadth of the motor industry.
Graeme Carver, CEO of Motorexpo, said, “Motorexpo grows in stature every year, demonstrated in 2013 with a record number of manufacturers and display vehicles. We’ve made the show even more interactive so that visitors will be able to get up close to, and in many cases drive some of the best cars currently available in the UK. That we are hosting so many UK motoring event vehicle debuts and two high profile industry events underlines the growing status of Motorexpo.”
