Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and Peter Ford, Representative of Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, have discussed a number of humanitarian, relief and development programmes funded by the ERC in Gaza Strip, and the follow-up implementation mechanism of these projects to assist Gazans.
Dr. Al Falahi said the ERC leadership is resolved to continue providing humanitarian and relief aid to Palestinians inside the Palestinian territories, and at a number of camps that host Palestinians. He welcomed the humanitarian partnership between the ERC and the UNRWA in implementation of projects funded by the ERC, and supervised over by the UNRWA in favour of Palestinians in Gaza Strip.
He noted that the ERC and the UNRWA have signed Dh150 million deal to rebuild damaged schools, hospitals, homes and other public utilities.
For his part, the UNRWA representative praised the relief and development efforts carried out by the ERA in Gaza Strip, and refugee camps in Palestine, adding that the U.A.E. is the biggest UNRWA donor in favour of Gazans during the recent events.
The meeting was attended by a number of the ERC and the UNRWA officials.
