Child comedian Rolf Harris given bail on sex allegations
Rolf Harris has been dropped from broadcaster Channel 5, following his re-arrest by police over fresh allegations of child sex crimes
.
The 83-year-old veteran star will not return to host the popular Animal Clinic series, and will be replaced by Australian Ben Fogle.
Harris was originally interviewed under caution in November 2012, but was not named as a suspect until April this year as part of
operation Yewtree, when after months of speculation, tabloid newspaper the Sun revealed him as a suspect in the investigations.
He joined a list of high profile celebrities in the British media, beginning with children’s comedian Jimmy Savile, Freddie Starr and Max Clifford, who have been found to have committed more than 200 sex crimes which started in the 80s.
After answering police bail this week, he was arrested again when fresh evidence surface against him.
Scotland Yard declined to name the suspect, however they said a man had been, “further arrested on suspicion of sexual offences in connection with further allegations".
The man has been released on bail to a date later this month.
