Council of the members of the national authority of media in Egypt held a meeting on Tuesday evening headed by chairman of the authority, Hussien Zein and the council members to continue discussing the authority observations on media and press law, and to prepare reports that contain all the remaining observations that need further discussion. The authority discussed several topics such as, activating media institutions and their mechanisms to present professional and ethical media performance, increasing the Egyptian citizen awareness about the challenges facing Egypt, and supporting financial and administrative reform plans in national media institutions. The press law must guarantee the freedom of opinion and expression within a framework of responsibility, and the commitment to a code of honor accepted by the professional colleagues with a mechanism of accountability for those who fall outside this framework. It also must support the government efforts and introduce economic reform plans to the citizen and the benefits of the giant national projects that serve him and the country. The authority stressed on the importance of communication and cooperation between the media to fight radical thoughts and channels used by extremists and terrorist organizations. At the end of the meeting, the council of the authority thanked all media teams in different sectors especially news and radio engineering sector for its professional efforts in covering Youth Conference in Ismailia and the visit of the Pope to Egypt.
