The Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, in Dubai has announced that 124,466 customers have downloaded the Smart Parking App during the first half of 2015, and that 283,703 transactions were made using the app during the same period.
The Smart Parking App provides a host of services which can save motorists time and effort, including paying parking fees using a credit card or via text message and an automatic identification of the parking Zone Code. The app can also indicate vacant parking slots within the RTA's multi-level parking terminals, and free parking spaces at the Dubai Mall.
"Transactions of the Smart Parking App have almost reached 284,000 transactions, comprising 261,126 e-parking tickets via smart phones, 22,577 transactions of recharging the parking wallet, and 124,500 downloads on smart phones. Such figures reflect that the app has lived up to its billing in fulfilling customer needs, given the rising public need for user-friendly technological means in handling parking services," said Adel Al Marzooki, Director of Parking, RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency.
The authority said that the service is part of RTA's keenness to introduce smart services coherent with the Dubai Government's drive to transform the emirate into the smartest city in the world in three years, and in line with the government's Smart City initiative.
