In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to enhance the presence of Sharjah Radio-a subsidiary of the Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC)-across
the country and to deepen national sentiment of the Federation and its achievements in its 42 anniversary, the people of Abu Dhabi are now able to receive the broadcast of Sharjah Radio for the first time on the new frequency 96. 3.
With the new move, the audience of Abu Dhabi will be able to listen to Sharjah Radio, which provides a line-up of programs with quality content to its listeners across a wider much geographical area in the country.
The move coincides with the nationwide celebrations of the UAE's 42nd National Day, a day that signifies all achievements, in response to demands by the fans and audience of Sharjah Radio in Abu Dhabi who has contacted the Sharjah Media Corporation through telephone calls, SMS text messages and social networking sites, demanding the official access of Sharjah Radio on a special frequency that exceeds the previous technical broadcast.
Sharjah Radio was founded to highlight more activities and events taking place in the capital and Sharjah, as well as to provide programs dedicated to discussing people's issues and problems, and inspire the original values of the UAE's rich history and traditions and its promising present and future, and its current distinctive position".
On his part, Dr. Khalid Al Midfa, Director General of SMC, said, "Sharjah's broadcasting on a new frequency came after extensive study and development process to ensure a wider geographical reach and listening range for its programs.
Engineers and technicians managed to provide our listeners with outstanding news coverage while sitting in their homes or offices through our line-up of diverse programs that fulfil their needs and ambitions.
He pointed out that the Sharjah Radio will take into account the expansion of its listeners' range and facilitates all means and ways of communication with them to strengthen their participation in its various programs.
The broadcasting of Sharjah Radio in Abu Dhabi will strengthen its broadcasting in other emirates and cities in the country where listeners in Umm Al Qaiwain and Ras Al Khaimah will be able to get a better broadcasting, thereby contributing to increasing interaction with radio listeners, and covering news and events happening in various areas and cities, brining views closer between citizens and officials through Radio live programs that deal with daily life, social, cultural and sport issues, and other people's concerns and problems.
As part of its ambitious strategy, the Sharjah Media Corporation will also broadcast Sharjah Radio on a new frequency in Al Ain, and strengthen its radio broadcast by 2014 in the Eastern and Central Region , including the cities of Kalba, Khorfakkan, Al Dhaid, Al Madam and Dibba Al Hisn, where major progress is taking place in tourism, investment projects and the construction of protected areas and natural reserves, along with heritage-related events concerning the UAE's rich history and authentic values and traditions.
