Sixty Khalifa University students have been accepted for prestigious internships with industry leaders in nine different countries around the world. The students, who are all completing their final year at Khalifa University, will travel to the USA, Australia, UK, France, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Ireland and Italy.

The number of Khalifa University students attending overseas internships has doubled since last year. The organisations the students will be joining are leaders in their respective industries and include Airbus, Dassault, Diehl, LG, and Mitsubishi. Five Biomedical engineering students will even have the opportunity to travel to Perth, Australia to work for the Centre for Forensic Science, and seven students from various programmes will join Children's National – The Sheikh Zayed Institute for Paediatric Surgical Innovation in Washington, D.C..

In addition to the increased number of students traveling for their internship, this year is the first that many of the organisations will be accepting Khalifa University Students, including AMEC Foster Wheeler, a UK based engineering consultancy, Cook Medical, a biomedical engineering firm in Ireland, Fincantieri, a shipbuilding firm located in Italy and Rockwell Collins, France, which provides avionics and information technology systems and services to governmental agencies and aircraft manufacturers.

"Khalifa University is a growing institution that continues to make its mark on both the national and international stage, as is evidenced by this increase in interest from companies worldwide," said Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Khalifa University's Executive Vice President. "These are exciting opportunities for our students, who will not only have the opportunity to work with industry leaders, but also to experience first hand what it's like to work with a major international company that is constantly pushing the boundaries and advancing technology. The knowledge and experience that they bring back with them will be invaluable for their future careers and to the UAE."
