The Sharjah Directorate of Public Works (DPW) has finished construction and furnishing a Dh26million theatre for Sharjah University – Khorfakkan Branch.
The project is consistent with the farsighted directives of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, to provide all necessary services that enhance educational facilities.
Eng. Mohammed bin Ya'rouf, Director of DPW Regional Branches said, "The 2500- square metre-theatre can accommodate 500 persons and equipped with state-of-the-art technologies.
He added, "When designing, the seats of the theatre were considered to be comfortable and commodious, while illumination works are state-of-the-art technologies to help enhance shows and events. High quality acoustic insulators were also installed to match the loudspeakers and amplifiers used across the theatre as per the world-class standards to enrich and provide a really lively watching experience. The highest levels of safety and firefighting precautions were also considered.
Relevantly, DPW recently accomplished a Dh1.1 million amphitheatre at the Child's Centre in Dibba Al-Hisn City, which can accommodate 476 persons. In addition and in consistence with the new football season, DPW finished a Dh32 million expansion works of Ittihad Kalba stadium to accommodate more than 5, 000 spectators as per the standards of the Asian Football Confederation.
