Higher Education Council has approved creating new MA degrees in two different specialisations with the aim of upgrading the educational situation in the country and providing more opportunities for students who are eager to continue
post -graduate studies locally.
A master's degree of qualification and specialisation in Music Education at Damascus University and a master's degree of qualification and specialisation in Environment and Climate Change at the Faculty of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at Baath University in Homs have been inaugurated, in addition to the possibility of opening a Kurdish language department at the Higher Institute for Languages at Damascus University.
Minister of Higher Education, Malek Ali, pointed out to the great efforts exerted by universities to make the educational process a success and to accommodate more than 190 thousand students with the aim of boosting higher education in general and post-graduate programs particularly.
Meanwhile, Rector of Damascus University, Mohammad Amer Mardini, discussed with members of the teaching personnel specialised in the Kurdish language the possibility of opening a department for teaching the language at the at the Higher Institute for Languages at Damascus University as a step towards inaugurating a Kurdish Department at the Faculty of Art and Humanities at the University.
