Qatar University has said it has admitted more than 5000 students to various programmes for the coming academic year, the Peninsula has reported
.
The university said it also appointed 200 new teachers in view of the increasing number of students and new programme.
The university will conduct orientation programmes for the new teaching staff members from August 19 to 27, where they will be introduced to the administrative structure, academic programmes and facilities.
Fatima al-Saeedi from the Employment and Human Resource Department told the Peninsula that the orientation aimed to welcome new teachers and give them necessary guidance.
She said the university is always keen to employ qualified international teaching staff members in addition to local staff, and the orientation sessions will prepare them for the coming academic year. The new teaching staff members are of Arab and many other nationalities.
“The university has a system in place under which scholarships are given to Qataris for Master’s and PhD programmes,” al-Saeedi explained.
