Bahrain Internet Society and Directorate of e-Commerce & IT
Student Services Directorate at the Ministry of Education in cooperation with Bahrain Internet Society and Directorate of e-Commerce & IT at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce organised a workshop entitled "Children Safety Online". 52 students from
17 schools participated in the workshop accompanied by their parents and a number of IT teachers.
The workshop shed light on the Internet advantages in terms of social networking, e-learning and online shopping, it also addressed the risks users may encounter, including exposure to viruses that destroy the data, penetrating devices and credit cards theft.
It discussed social and ethical effects of excessive use of internet on the individual and society.
The Workshop concluded by recommending security settings for devices and users , means of safely using the internet, updating antivirus software and the use of strong passwords to secure personal data.
On the sidelines of the workshop, students received practical applications on means of safely using the internet and registering in social networking sites, as well as completing a questionnaire.
Awards and awareness brochures were distributed.
