Tunisian Minister of Vocational Training and Employment, Abdel-Wahab Maatar Ministry of vocational training and employment Abdelwahab Maatar announced that consultations will take place in an effort to create more public and governmental jobs. Maatar announced holding consultations in an effort to provide more than 35,000 jobs.
The national constituent assembly has approved the new draft law for creating public jobs for tens of thousands of people, especially university graduates, 25,000 of whom will be employed directly and 10,000 indirectly.
The Tunisian minister of vocational training and employment said that "employment indexes witnessed improvements by 46.7% in the last 7 months of this year," adding "since the start of 25 July 2012, the employment institutions achieved more than 30,000 job operations, offering a number of job opportunities by a 15.2% increase, including 51.4% of high school graduates".
Maatar mentioned that "since the beginning of the year until the end of last month, 5042 unemployed people found work in commercial governmental jobs.  7400 unemployed worked in a chemical compound and 1000 in technical industries. In addition to these numbers, 2600 Tunisians got jobs in the Gulf and Europe".
Maatar asserted that "the employment issue is the core issue for the ruling coalition".  He also called for making a full radical change in the new development program in order to target the biggest number of job opportunities.
The unemployment rate in Tunisia reached 18.9% in the latest 3 months of the last year. According to national institute of statistics, 800,000 Tunisians remain unemployed.
