UAE has 34,122 inbound students overseas
The UAE tops the list of the Arab countries in the net flow ratio of inbound and outbound students, which stands at 30. The ratio of the Arab world is as low as -8.1 for Morocco, -4.5 for Tunisia, 5.4 for Lebanon. Qatar came second on the
list with a ratio of 9.7.
UAE has 34,122 inbound students (overseas students studying here), against 7,719 outbound students (local students studying abroad). These figures have put the UAE at No. 1 position in net flow ratio of inbound and outbound mobile students, while most of the other Arab countries have a negative ratios, dropping to -52.1 in the extreme case of Djibouti.
The figures, published by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS), is the primary source for cross-nationally comparable statistics on Education in more than 200 countries and territories. These were recently highlighted by Carian College Advisors, the UAE's leading independent educational consultancy focusing exclusively on US admissions, as it announced a scholarship competition for high school students in the UAE.
Peter Davos, Managing Director of Carian College Advisors, said that the UAE topping the list among Arab countries speaks volumes for the high demand among UAE students to pursue university degrees in reputed, quality-driven universities within or outside the country. "We are therefore pleased to offer UAE students an opportunity to receive scholarships for Carian's services, so that they are well informed about education facilities in US universities," he added.
To be eligible for the scholarships, Carian College Advisors is asking students studying in their final two years of secondary school to write a 500-word essay about why they want to pursue an undergraduate education in the US. The winner of the competition will receive a free Crimson Package from Carian College Advisors, which is the consultancy's most premium advising service, allowing them unlimited meetings with Carian's consultants, which would include assistance with up to 14 applications. Carian College Advisors will also award three runners-up with their Ivy Package, which offers weekly meetings with consultants and assistance with up to 10 applications.
"The number of students in the UAE attending university in the United States is on the rise," said Davos. "The scholarship competition allows students considering the US for higher studies to critically analyze the benefits of US education and to begin preparing for the rigorous application process. Furthermore, winners will have access to our talented team of consultants that will assist them in every step of the process." Carian College Advisors consultants are all Americans with master degrees that have graduated from universities in the United States and have experience in US University Admissions. The consultants guide students through each step of the university and application process, adhering to the highest ethical standards in the industry.
