The MBA programme at the University of Dubai recently organised a professional workshop at Dubai Chamber, attended by more than 50 UAE government employees from various ministries, including the Ministries of Education, Justice, Information, and Health.
The workshop, which consisted of three sessions, focused on Innovations at Work, Resistance of Leadership Change and Smart Employees for Smarter Cities.
In the first session, Dr. Ibrahim Tabche spoke about the positive aspects of innovation and how employees can compete successfully when they think outside of of the box. He interacted with participants citing examples of innovative employees who made it to the top with their creativity at the work place.
Dr. Yehia Kamel stated in his session that there can be no leadership without followers and no successful leader without trusted followers. He stressed honesty and integrity as key attributes of a leader, adding that a true leader is a visionary leader.
Nasser Al Muraqab, IT director at University of Dubai, spoke about the importance of managing big data, explaining how the 'Internet of Things' will change the way we communicate, and called for extensive training for today’s employees to cope with future smart cities. He added that the amount of data that employee possess is important for their career development, but the way they manage data is decisive for their success.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Eesa M. Bastaki, President of University of Dubai, said that the MBA Programme at the University of Dubai will continue to sponsor such workshops to promote academic knowledge in both public and private sectors. Dr. Bastaki added that the university is committed to spreading knowledge among UAE employees as part of its mission statement. Following the workshop, participants were given Certificates of Attendance signed by Dr. Bastaki.
