Students have been advised to bring copies of their CVs
The UK's biggest jobs fair will be organised by The University of Manchester on June 12 and 13 as hundreds of graduates are finishing university and seeking their first step on the career
ladder.
This annual Graduate Recruitment Fair at the Armitage Centre in Fallowfield welcomes more exhibitors over the two days than any other in the UK, and is free to attend for any new or recent graduate, in any degree discipline, from any university.
Representatives from 170 companies and several higher education institutions are participating, with different exhibitors on each day. Graduates will get the opportunity to find out about permanent paid jobs (and a few voluntary positions) in a variety of sectors locally, nationally and internationally, as well as postgraduate study opportunities starting autumn 2013.
Exhibitors include recruiters such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Aldi, Arcadia Group, BAE Systems, Bloomberg, Cambridge Network Limited, Croda International, Computer Sciences Corporation, Danone, EA Technology, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Express Estate Agency, Grant Thornton, Hel’s Angels, Hilti, IBM, The Information Commissioner’s Office, Majestic Wine Warehouses Ltd, Matalan, MMI Engineering, Morson International, Oceaneering International Services, On The Beach Holidays, Raleigh International, Reckitt Benckiser, Sainsbury’s, Teach First, University of Birmingham, The University of Manchester, Utopia Technology, Vodafone, Web Applications and 150 more. The Fair is an ideal chance for graduates to make a positive impression on several potential employers at once.
Jan Hewitt, Employer Liaison Manager at the University said: "We do advise graduates to dress smartly, to bring copies of their CV and to try to research companies and their vacancies beforehand - you will make a better impression if companies feel you have done your homework – you can check out the vacancies each company has on the list of exhibitors for each day on the Fair website."
A team of professional careers consultants will be on hand to offer advice on CVs, and there are short, informative talks on interview techniques, making effective job applications and succeeding at assessment centres.
The Fair runs from 1030 hrs to 1600 hrs each day at the Armitage Centre in Fallowfield, Manchester.
