Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad Al-Salem Al-Sabah
Chairperson of the Women's Affairs Committee at the Kuwaiti Cabinet Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad Al-Salem Al-Sabah arrived in Cairo, Friday, to participate in the Regional Preparatory Meeting for the 58th session of the Commission on the Status
of Women (CSW) which will be held later this year at the UN headquarters in New York.
Upon arrival, Sheikha Latifa expressed appreciation to the role played by the Arab League for hosting this event and supporting women's rights and causes.
She told KUNA that Arab women are at a significant crossroad, especially at a time where the region is witnessing some tension and instability. She called on international communities and governmental bodies to unify efforts in support of women; she urged to eliminate gender discrimination and encouraged to enable females to be productive members in their societies and become major players in their countries' developmental plans.
Sheikha Latifa, and her accompanying delegation, will participate in this preparatory meeting that aims at developing strategies for Arab women and addresses key issues of their empowerment.
