Al-Ain Zoo
Al-Ain - Arab Today

On the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, Al Ain Zoo reopens from its Ramadan break, and looks forward to welcoming guests with range of unique performances and activities that will provide an unforgettable zoo holiday experience. Visitors of all ages can enjoy these events during special opening hours from 9am to 9pm on the first three days of Eid Al Fitr.

Al Ain Zoo will be presenting an ‘Eidiya' for visitors – a gift traditionally offered on the occasion of Eid – with each guest receiving a complimentary entrance ticket for a child to use on their next visit after Eid.

A number of very special activities have been added this year, where guests are provided with the opportunity to discover the zoo's diverse animal species, such as informative discussions on hippos and a first chance to see our new baby called Mayo. Other activities include exciting crocodile feedings and conservation programmes for lions, tigers, and primates. Children will also have chance to feed the birds.

Commenting on the Eid festivities, Muna Al Dhaheri, the Chief of Conservation and Education at Al Ain Zoo, said, "Eid Al Fitr has always been an exciting time at Al Ain Zoo, and we have been preparing our Eid programmes in order to provide the best possible experience and a learning environment for visitors, where they can watch and interact with wildlife and nature. The zoo is offering a wide range of exciting activities and we are confident they will be enjoyed by guests of all ages, making their Eid holiday a memorable one."

She added, "This year, Al Ain Zoo promises more surprises and unique activities. The young male hippo which was born earlier last month, will be available for public viewing. The hippopotamus is listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s Red List of Threatened species as vulnerable due to the significant decline in their population in the past three decades and they are always a favourite amongst our visitors."

The zoo's regular summer hours will resume after the Eid holidays opening daily from 4pm to 10pm until 30th September.
