US actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
Algeria's second largest city Oran has joined the R20 organisation. Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal has praised the initiative, which aims to protect the environment.
The signature comes as US actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger opens an office in Algeria of his environmental initiative R20, in a bid to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions there and throughout the Mediterranean.
Schwarzenegger vowed to press his bid to "terminate" threats to the environment through his climate action campaign.
The star of the Terminator and Predator movies said the world needed to "do better" if the goal of a 75 percent global reduction in greenhouse emissions is to be achieved.
Sellal conducted talks with Arnold Schwarzenegger on developing programmes on how to coperate to protect the environment.
