Libyan Turtle
The Agricultural irregularities committee, in cooperation with the criminal security department, were able to foil the attempted smuggling of thousands of wild turtles from Libya. The head of the agricultural irregularities
committee Mansour al-Dali said that the seizurr of the turtles came after they received complaints from several citizens concerning two people suspected of smuggling turtles from several Libyan cities. As a result of these complaints, the criminal security department was contacted. Al-Dali said that this smuggling "is a drain on Libya's animal wealth, partly due to the scarcity of this type of turtle.".
According to the Libyan newspaper Quryna, al-Dali explained that the defendants were referred to the attorney general, as well as relevant authorities. Moreover, an agricultural committee will be formed to re-distribute the tortoises in valleys in eastern Libya.
