Sudan hopes to tackle arid land with trees
Alexandria - Haitham Mohamed

Sudan hopes to tackle arid land with trees Sudan’s Minister of State for Environmental Affairs, Hussien abdel-Qader, said that Halaib and Shalatin are common Egyptian-Sudanese territories that could serve common interests of the two countries. He expressed his hope that the area would witness serious development under Sudanese management. The statement came during the International Conference for Climate Change and Biodiversity hosted by the Arab Academy for Science and Technology in Alexandria.
The Sudanese minister stressed that notable progress will be made in developing environmental projects between the two countries. He added that these projects aim to combat desertification, a type of land degradation, including planting a large number of trees to suspend such phenomenon.
Topics discussed at the conference included how to find solutions for the crisis of climate change, and finding new sources of energy. Talks have called for drafting strategies to cope with the repercussions of climate change on local and regional levels
