Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Gheit urged the international community to swiftly intervene to contain the deteriorating situation in Yemen, adding that the assassination of former Yemeni president Ali Abullah Saleh reveals the criminal nature of the Houthis.
Abul Gheit said that the assassination of Saleh gives a warning that the security situation in this ill-fated country could spiral out of control.
The Houthi militias rejected any compromise to settle the Yemeni dispute in a way that would spare the country the distress of war and destruction, Arab League Spokesman Mahmoud Afifi said Tuesday
