Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi on Friday met the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura and discussed with him efforts to realize a political solution to the crisis in neighboring Syria.
The meeting, which came on the sidelines of the annual Mediterranean Dialogues (MED) forum in Italy, highlighted the importance of a settlement to Syrian civil war, that would bring stability to the region and help defeating terrorist gangs.
The top diplomat also stressed the need to support the Geneva process in order to preserve the unity of Syria, and to secure the voluntary return of the Rakban refugee camp residents to there cities.
The UN official, for his part, commended the level of cooperation between Jordan and the United Nations, as well as the Kingdom's efforts in hosting the Syrian refugees.
