Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati concluded a three-day visit to Uganda by attending the inauguration of a solar-operated well.
The visit comes within the framework of strengthening relations between Egypt and Uganda in the field of water resources and irrigation.
The well is among 75 wells to be dug in Uganda to provide drinking water. It comes as part of technical cooperation projects between the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment.
Egypt and Uganda signed a 4.5-million-dollar cooperation protocol in 2010 to implement development projects, including establishing dams to store rain water along with implementing several training programs for technical cadres in the Ugandan Ministry of Water and Environment.
Abdel Aati arrived in Kampala on Monday where he was received by Ugandan Water and Environment Minister Sam Cheptoris.
