Venezuela plans to strengthen strategic partnership with Russia, Venezuelan Minister of Industries and National Production Tareck El Aissami wrote on his Twitter microblog on Thursday after a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov in Havana.
"We intend to actively develop bilateral and strategic cooperation between Venezuela and Russia for the benefit of our peoples and our sovereignties. I thank my colleague Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov for his attention and solidarity," Al Aissami said.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro earlier met with a Russian delegation headed by Deputy Finance Minister Sergey Storchak. After the meeting, Maduro said Venezuela will achieve economic independence with the help of Russia.
