Presidential Advisor for Military Affairs Abdel Mon'em el Taras highlighted the importance of encountering extremism.
It has nothing to do with Islam, Taras said, noting that Islam urged for renouncing violence.
During a training course, organized by the Awqaf (religious endowments) Ministry in Abbasiya's el Nour Mosque, Taras reiterated that Islam was totally against extremist acts.
Addressing preachers, he said the social and media variables witnessed by the society entail a more effective role and involvement by the society, the family and preachers who call for adopting moderate teachings of Islam.
He referred to responsibility of the clerics to explain the correct teachings of Islam and spread humanitarian values that contribute to developing the society
