Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, Sunday agreed with his Yemini counterpart, Abdulmalik Abduljalil Al-Mekhlafi, to hold the joint Jordanian-Yemeni Higher Committee meeting as soon as possible to boost cooperation between the two countries.
During a meeting here, the ministers discussed the latest developments in the region and the situation in war-ravaged Yemen.
Safadi reiterated Jordan’s support of the Yemeni people and the legitimate government of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
He also stressed the importance of a political solution to the crisis in Yemen in accordance with the Gulf Initiative, the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference and the resolutions of the UN security council.
The Yemeni minister lauded Jordan’s support of his country and welcomed the Kingdom’s initiative to host the office of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Yemen.
He also hailed Jordan’s stabilizing role in the region and expressed Yemen’s keen interest in forging closer cooperation with the Kingdom in the various fields.
