Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zwati, met with Arab electricity and energy counterparts, who participated in the 6th General Conference of Arab Union of Electricity, which wrapped up activities in the Dead Sea area on Thursday, to discuss ways to enhance joint Arab cooperation.
During the meeting, Zwati stressed the importance of griding the electrical networks in the Arab world to enhance trade relations and achieve Arab energy integration.
She said the electrical connection is a necessity to reduce the burden of large investments aiming to develop networks and generation units, and is also important to increase reliability of electrical systems.
On establishing an Arab electricity market, she said this project is one of the priorities of the power sector in the Arab region, stressing the importance of this step in achieving comprehensive economic integration.
Zwati expressed Jordan's readiness to harness its experience in the field of renewable energy, which constitutes an "economical and environmental" solution for the development of electrical systems and their future, taking advantage of the weather conditions in the Arab region.
