Irrigation Minister Mohamed Abdel Ati left for Nigerian capital, Abuja, on Monday to participate in the 15th annual celebration of forming the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW) as well as the meeting of the council’s executive committee in his capacity as the AMCOW Vice President for North Africa.
The ceremony is set to be held under the theme “Toward Safe Water and Sanitation in Africa” and will touch on all AMCOW’s efforts over the past ten years to boost cooperation between the African countries, achieve sustainable development and sustain effective management of water resources in the African continent.
During the ceremony, the AMCOW executive committee will hold a meeting to discuss a number of issues, including revising the organizational and financial rules if the council and developing the AMCOW’s ten-year strategy.
Operations for establishing and managing a knowledge base for water resources will start with the aim of benefiting from it in improving the water sector in Africa
