Kuwait National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim has warned that His Highness the Amir is a red line that should never be crossed, and that "poisonous media remarks" would do little to harm his esteemed reputation.
The chief lawmaker said the comments, made by a host on Lebanese TV channel Al-Manar regarding His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Shaikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, are "baseless lies and fabrications."
"We do not plan to respond to this cheap suggestion, however, Kuwaiti nationals have responded via social media and the Ministry of Information has made clear its position in an official statement," he said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). "Others have tried before to come close to mocking His Highness but have failed miserably," he added.
