His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the President of the current session of the GCC Supreme Council, received at Sakhir Palace today Representative to HM the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa who introduced to him the GCC Ministers of Youth and Sport on the occasion of their 31st meeting in Bahrain.
The ministers conveyed to HM the King the greetings of the GCC leaders and their best wishes of more progress and prosperity to Bahrain. HM the King asked them to convey his greetings to the GCC leaders as well as his best wishes of further progress and prosperity to their people.
HM the King welcomed the ministers, saying that four years have passed since launching the first honour of leaders who took up leading posts in the youth and sport field. He lauded their obvious role in developing the sector in the GCC countries, pointing out the honour accorded, too, to the creative and outstanding GCC youth for their remarkable contributions to serving the community.
HM the King expressed hope the GCC youngsters would play an international role to achieve peace, co-existence and sustainable development. He pointed out launching this year King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award to achieve the sustainable development goals which aim mainly to improve health and education, achieve economic development, provide clean energy and tackle climate change.
HM the King wished the meeting of the GCC Youth and Sport Ministers every success in coming up with executive decisions that will achieve the aspirations of the GCC leaders and contribute to empowering the youth and engaging them in building their present and future.
Dr. Omar bin Saeed Al-Ibri of Oman, in his speech on behalf of the honoured youth, took pride in HM the King's support for the Gulf youth to assist them to contribute to constructing their hometowns.
He conveyed the Gulf youth's gratitude for the Gulf leaders support and directives of HM the King on offering the youth full opportunity to prove their capabilities in building their homeland and planning their future.
He said that the Gulf youth have impatiently awaited the resolutions stemmed from the GCC Summit held in Bahrain and Al-Sakhir Declaration which is a beacon that leads the youth's way, which have highlighted the significance of promoting the youth's role in activating programmes and events that contribute to strengthening Gulf coherence and identity, as well as values of tolerance, moderation, coexistence and achieving the youth aspirations.
Then, HM the King decorated the supreme youth and sport leaderships with the GCC Medal of Excellence. He also honoured the creative and outstanding Gulf youth with the GCC Medal.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa presented HM the King with a gift on the occasion.

- Khalfan bin Saleh bin Mohammed Al-Na'abi, Oman.
- Mohammed Faraj Kassim Al-Khunji, Qatar.
The honourees of the creative and distinguished youth who contributed to developing and serving the GCC community are:
