King Abdullah II of Jordan arrived at the Palestinian presidential headquarters here on Monday on his first visit to the West Bank in five years.
His last visit to the West Bank was in 2012.
Speaking to MENA, Fatah spokesman Osama Qawasmeh said the visit is very important and comes as part of constant coordination between the kingdom and Palestinian leadership as regards Israel's continued attempts to wriggle out of its implementation of agreed-upon political obligations, especially concerning Al Quds.
The latest Israeli escalation towards Al Quds was very serious and annoying to both the Palestinian and Jordanian leaderships and peoples, especially after Israel turned deaf ear to all pleas to end its escalation, he said.
The main issue on the table is to protect Al Aqsa mosque from Israeli schemes and continued storming operations, he said, uncovering an Israeli plot to turn the political conflict with the Palestinians to a religious one.
Jordan is the official custodian of the Al-Aqsa mosque, which is the third holiest site in Islam.
