The Giza Criminal Court sentenced nine people to death while two others were sentenced to two years in prison over killing a bodyguard of former governor of the Central Bank of Egypt Hisham Ramez and robbing his car in 2013.
The court, which earlier referred the verdict to the Mufti for review, also acquitted two others in the case.
They were accused of killing and robbing as well as possessing unlicensed weapons and ammunition.
