Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council Ali Larijani stressed the failure of the schemes of states targeting Syria, expressing at the same time hope that Astana Process will contribute to solving the crisis in Syria.
Larijani highlighted during his meeting in Tehran with members of the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee chaired by Hussein Ragheb Hussein the importance of concentrating on the interests of the Syrian people and adhering to resistance in the post-war stage for confronting political pressure, stressing Iran’s continuous support to Syria on all levels.
He lauded the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army and the firm stances of the Syrian leadership, expressing hope that Idleb province will be cleansed of the remaining terrorists.
For his part, Hussein condemned the unilateral US embargo on Iran, stressing that the Syrian and Iranian peoples have proved that they call for peace and amity in the world.
Syria’s Ambassador in Iran Adnan Mahmoud said that “the final formula of the long-term strategic cooperation between the two countries has been ready for three months, and we expect it to be signed soon in order to move forwards for the new stage of partnership between the two sides and consolidate the economic coordination.”
In a similar context, Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council for International Affairs Hussein Amir Abdullahian clarified that Syria has defeated terrorism and the main role in achieving that was played by the Syrian people under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad.
