There are no preparations for the exchange of visits by Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, but this issue was discussed during US National Security Adviser John Bolton’s trip to Moscow, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"Certainly, [Moscow] is ready," Peskov said, when asked if Moscow was prepared to discuss Putin’s possible visit to the US. The issue of a possible exchange of visits was discussed at the talks, but no "particular decisions" have been made, he added.
Now the sides will focus on the preparations for a possible meeting between the US and Russian leaders in Paris next month, Peskov said.
After Putin’s meeting with Bolton on Tuesday, Russian president’s aide Yuri Ushakov said that an agreement had been reached to organize a Russian-US summit in Paris on November 11 on the sidelines of the 100th anniversary celebration of the armistice after World War I. Then Bolton spoke about Putin’s possible visit to the US next year.
Putin’s last meeting with Trump and their only full-scale bilateral talks were held in Helsinki on July 16. Before that, the two leaders had a number of brief meetings on the sidelines of international summits. The Kremlin representatives said Putin and Trump may have a chance to meet at the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, due on November 30-December 1.
