Also on Tuesday, President Sisi received a delegation from the Italian parliament. They held talks on bilateral relations and efforts to overcome the different challenges facing the two countries.
Sisi told the Italian MPs that Cairo won't forget Rome's support for the will of the Egyptian people in the wake of the June 30 Revolution.
The Italian lawmakers assured Sisi that their country will continue to back Egypt in the face of security and economic challenges.
They hailed as "pivotal" the role played by Egypt in the Middle East region and its efforts to counter terrorism and illegal migration.
Meanwhile, President Sisi called for intensified international efforts to cut funding and stop logistic support for terrorist organizations.
Sisi also pressed for action to reach political solutions to regional crises, believing this would help national institutions in countries of conflict secure their borders against terrorism and illegal migration.
The meeting also took up developments concerning the case of Italian student Giulio Regeni, who had been killed in Egypt, with Sisi urging further cooperation between Cairo and Rome to bring perpetrators to justice. (MORE)
