Estonian Ambassador in Cairo Sander Soone has said that Sameh Shoukry's visit to his country, the first by an Egyptian foreign minister to the Baltic state, was important to help find a solution to the illegal immigration problem.
Shoukry, who visited Estonia Tuesday, held talks with his counterpart there Sven Mikser on means by which to support stability in the southern Mediterranean and Middle East regions.
Egypt and Estonia should act together to also solve the problem of terrorism and extremism through an effective exchange of information, Soone said in statements to MENA Wednesday.
He made it clear that his country is willing to share its know-how in digital services with Egypt.
Shoukry's visit to Estonia is the first by an Egyptian foreign minister as part of a three-nation European tour also involving Russia and Lithuania.
His three-day tour is also to promote the bid of former minister of family and population Moshira Khattab for the position of Director General of the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Russia, Estonia and Lithuania are executive board members of the UNESCO.
