Singapore's President Tony Tan visited on Wednesday the archaeological area in Old Cairo where he was welcomed by the general bishop of Egypt's ancient churches and head of the Jewish community in Egypt.
The foreign leader visited the Hanging Church and Abu Serga Church along with the Ben Ezra Synagogue, said El Said Helmi, the head of the Islamic and Coptic antiquities sector of the antiquities ministry.
The visiting president was briefed during the tour on the history of these sites. He said it is a pleasure for him to visit the ancient area. He was keen on taking photos at the unique archaeological sites.
A host of senior officials of the antiquities ministry accompanied the president during the tour.
