Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended Monday the opening session of the summit, which is organized by Germany’s presidency of the Group of 20 powerful economies.
The two-day summit, titled “Investing in a common future,” will focus on creating future opportunities for African youth in light of growing populations on the continent.
The conference started with a speech by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who underlined the need to support regional integration for markets in order to promote the transfer of knowledge and technology and reconsider trade routes between Europe and Africa.
Merkel, meanwhile, said that there is no option to attain development without security.
The security situation is not sufficient in several areas in Africa due to conflicts, terror attacks and humanitarian crises, she further said.
Partnership with Africa is mainly related to economic development and promoting peace, security and stability as well, she added.
