Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi
Cairo - Egypt Today

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended on Thursday a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of establishing the Egyptian navy at Ras el Tin naval base.

Sisi raised the national flag at Alexandria naval base after its renovation.

Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, the president inspected the new naval units; French-made GOWIND corvette, named "Al Fateh", TKMS-built Type 209/1400 submarine and Mistral-class helicopter carrier, which is named after late president Anwar el Sadat.

Meanwhile, he opened the simulation complex at Alexandria Naval Base.

Sisi listened to a detailed explanation on the simulation complex, which was designed by French and German companies to ensure the flow of information between missile-firing and armament devices.

The president inspected the submarine (42) and watched a simulation on how its emulation system spots possible targets.

He also toured the room, where the submarine's control simulation is carried out.

Sisi paid an inspection visit to the submarine dock, which was set up on an area of 30,600 meters, including 311,000 metal panels at a length of 10 kilometers and a housing area for soldiers and officers.
