Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial site in Gisozi and laid down a wreath on it as part of his visit to Rwanda which started today.
The president inspected the museum attached to the memorial which documents the massacres committed in Rwanda in the 1990s.
Presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said President Sisi lamented the fall of innocent people in the massacres and called for co-existence among all spectra of Rwandan people to prevent the recurrence of such crimes and achieve peace in Africa and the world.
The president will hold a session of talks with Rwandan president Paul Kagame and senior officials in the African country. A dinner banquet will be held for the Egyptian leader after the talks.
