The White House said on Friday that U.S. President Donald Trump earlier had a phone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders said in a press statement that Trump and Abe discussed the importance of maintaining pressure on the DPRK until it denuclearizes.
Sanders also said Abe congratulated Trump over mid-term elections result, and both leaders look forward to successful discussions during U.S. Vice President Mike Pence's upcoming trip to Japan.
Trump said Wednesday in the press conference after midterm elections that "Japan does not treat the United States fairly on trade."
The White House announced Wednesday that Pence would visit Japan, Singapore, Australia, and Papua New Guinea from Nov. 11 to 18.
