At least three children have died due to diarrhea outbreak at a village in southern Philippines, officials said on Tuesday. The village of Tinoto in Mindanao's Sarangani province has been placed under state of calamity sinced dozens of residents were hospitalized with symptoms of the water-borne disease last week, said Meloy Latoja, an official of the provincial social welfare office. Local doctors are still examining samples of the community's source of potable water to determine the presence of diarrhea- causing bacteria, Latoja said. The fatalities were five years old and under, he said.
