Since the start of an outbreak of measles in the German capital in October, there have been almost 1,000 cases of the highly contagious disease, Berlin's health authorities reported this week, according to dpa.
Of the 970 cases reported by Thursday, 849 have been reported since January, the Berlin State Office for Health and Social Affairs said.
Around a quarter of cases are so severe they need to be treated in hospital. Measles attacks the immune system and can lead to serious infections of the lungs or brain.
The outbreak, one of the worst in Germany in a decade, does not appear to be slowing, the authorities said.
