Aswan health authorities took precautionary measures to confront cholera after its outbreak in Yemen and Sudan, where the disease resulted in killing hundreds of citizens.
Health measures are stepped up at the entrance and exit of the High Dam area, Aswan and Abu Simbel airports as well as other border crossings in Aswan and Abu Simbel in order to prevent the infected people from entering the country, said Ehab Hanafy, the undersecretary at the Ministry of Health.
Any foodstuffs kept by travelers from these countries are destroyed, he added.
