Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) has provided donations of over AED1.5 million to several health-related causes as part of its efforts to enhance healthcare services in the UAE in line with its comprehensive endowment vision.

The funds came from the endowment of Ahmad Mohammad Beghlaf, dedicated to supplying essential equipment to hospitals and medical centres across the country, as well as other purposes that meet the demands of various social segments.

Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, commented, "Providing best-in-class healthcare services to citizens and residents of the UAE aligns with the keen interest of our wise leadership to ensure happiness in our society. Supporting healthcare is a noble initiative that the concept of endowment always seeks to emphasize and encourage."

Ahmad Bu Shehab, Director of Waqf Development at AMAF handed over a donation cheque of AED1,337,000 to Mohammed Rashid bin Rushaid, Director of Saqr Hospital, for purchasing medical equipment for two operating theaters in the trauma department of Saqr Hospital in Ras al-Khaimah, one of the oldest government medical facilities in the emirate, the hospital offers comprehensive healthcare services in many vital specialties.

Bin Rushaid said, "AMAF’s generous donation means a major boost for our trauma department and our efforts to save lives in general. The funds will help us develop and upgrade our offering to serve larger numbers and meet the demands of sustained population growth."

AMAF also handed over a donation cheque of AED250,000 to the Hope initiative, launched by the Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation in Dubai with the aim of helping breast cancer patients.

The launch of the Hope initiative in October 2016 coincided with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, during which organisations across the world conduct events related to the condition. To date, the campaign has generated AED1.6 million to fund medical research and raise awareness of breast cancer in the UAE.
