The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states have so far unified the prices of 2852 drugs ever since the joint initiative was launched in June 2014 and took effect in October of the same year.
Health Minister Sadiq bin Abdelkarim Al-Shehabi said that the prices of five batches of drugs have so far been unified, pointing that more categories of medication would follow suit in the coming months.
This came as he patronized a ceremony in honour of the GCC committee in charge of unifying the prices of drugs. The GCC Health Ministers’ Executive Office hosted the event which was also attended by Undersecretary Dr. Aisha Mubarak Bu’unq, Executive Director Dr. Tawfiq bin Ahmed Khoja, National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) chief executive officer Dr. Baha Eddine Fatiha and Assistant Undersecretary for Healthcare and Public Health Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al-Jalahma.
